JUly 12 - Saturday

Like clockwork, Kunju is staring at me at about 6:30AM. I hurry down to the kitchen to mix his drink whole milk slightly warm not shaken.

I have resolved not to get out of the bed (in other words not be bullied by Mini Me) , he tried for about 10 minutes and fell asleep on the carpet in the blue room. We both wake up at about 9:00 AM. Kunju seemed excited when i showed him the waffles ... waffles it is for breakfast. After lazying around for a while i think about making something for lunch.

In the past not too long ago i wouldn't have entertained such a ghastly thought at 11:00 AM in the morning, but these are different times. I have a mouth to feed and nourish a young soul and such acts require sacrifice something that necessitates combing through the limited menu in my head.

I guess thats why grand parents enjoy little ones more cos as parents ironically you are always pushing the kids away from you in order to get things done for them. go figure...

Anyway lunch was some left over stove top corn bread stuffing with fruits and potato/cauliflower sabji. Kunju lapped it up. At about 1:20 he fell asleep. I used the time to tidy the house.

At about 4:45 i had to wake him up ... the thought of a well refreshed kunju at 9:00 pm did not seem very appealing. After his milk fix we watched some trains on u tube. I checked the TRE schedule and planned for the 6:09 boarding from south irving.

I packed some curd sadam with sabji, milk and we left. Should have seen the little face when we saw the train approaching the station. he was excited, but i was not.

Somehow the trains in the US with their fancy a/c coaches, no vibrations lower the thrill of a train ride or maybe i am just used to sticking my head out and seeing colorful scenes pass by. Anyway it was not about me it was about kunju.. he was excited to hear the horn.

Our trip plan was to travel from south irving to Dallas union station and back. There are 2 stops between Irving and union station. Medical/Market city, Victory Plaza. We reached downtown in about 20 minutes.
Surprisingly the train was full.

The stations are not exciting in fact it is nothing but a platform. After spending about 15 minutes in union station we caught the down train back to irving. Again kunju created no fuss for dinner and milk. By the time we reached home it was time 8:00. After about 40 minutes outdoors Kunju hit sack.

I watched some tv till about 12:00 and went to bed
