Up at 6:00 AM for milk chores and i was finally up at 7:00. To my surprise kunju was still sleeping, let sleeping dogs lie was my thought.
Anyway for once i could leisurely drink tea and eat my breakfast. i had to wake kunju at 8:00 AM, no surprises what was for breakfast waffles again. he loves it, I hope he doesn't love it so much that he starts hating it forever. Lunch was maggi sambar with peas and carrot.
Work was ok. Picked up kunju
We both had a long overdue haircut. He behaved ok but the linger it took he got irritated. He looks so cute now
i tried to make uttapam it was a disaster so backtracked and gave him some maggi, curd sadam and gratin. ... by the way i sent the remaining gratin over to sonia.
Again a nice quiet night. I am feeling much better. Look forward to tommorrow

July 14 - Monday
Back to work. In a way it was ok because i was ready for a break from Mini Man Preeti.
Breakfast was waffles again Kunju just loves it, makes my job easier.
Work was well work not terribly pulse pounding action happening there. I was feeling a bit sick carry over from sunday. Got bank work done for VA.
Picked up Kunju at 5:30 came home, apparently Kunju had loved the gratin, no suprises what was for dinner (mommy reading it might object to too much potato) but it had a good amount of spinach and onions as well. Kunju dif like the gratin as he eat without his usual fuss.
i must say Kunju behaved well and i was not terribly feeling well either so i was happy.
After some playtime both of us hit the sack... short day

July - 13 Sunday
Kunju and I finally get out of bed at 9:00 AM, the waking up process had actually begun at 6:00 am. After breakfast (waffles for kunju he loves it) we sat to the sounds of the wild (kunju's vtech game) only to be uninterrupted by fred's mower. Nothing gets me up and going more than the neighbor's mower.
I decide today is the day i am going to mow the lawn. Quickly i come up with a plan to keep kunju inside mommy's car strap him in and leave the car running with windows slightly down in the driveway. I go about mowing the lawn both front and back. Finally after a month the lawn looks decent. The whole process took about 90 minutes. Kunju was quiet all the time... he is full of surprises.
That little activity and cleaning up after that took us past 12:30, time for Kunju's lunch i actually gave him parupp sadam and sabji, he ate it
Afternoon was nap time and this time both of us slept for about 3 hours. Evening we decided to go to spouts and get some fruits and vegggies for the Gratin i was going to make in the night.
I underestimated how many potatoes were needed and coupled with only the big dish available (the small one is with senthil , camp holdover) I made enough gratin to last a week.
Packed lunch for Kunju... I was feeling a little sick probably running a temperature so i hit the sack.

JUly 12 - Saturday
Like clockwork, Kunju is staring at me at about 6:30AM. I hurry down to the kitchen to mix his drink whole milk slightly warm not shaken.
I have resolved not to get out of the bed (in other words not be bullied by Mini Me) , he tried for about 10 minutes and fell asleep on the carpet in the blue room. We both wake up at about 9:00 AM. Kunju seemed excited when i showed him the waffles ... waffles it is for breakfast. After lazying around for a while i think about making something for lunch.
In the past not too long ago i wouldn't have entertained such a ghastly thought at 11:00 AM in the morning, but these are different times. I have a mouth to feed and nourish a young soul and such acts require sacrifice something that necessitates combing through the limited menu in my head.
I guess thats why grand parents enjoy little ones more cos as parents ironically you are always pushing the kids away from you in order to get things done for them. go figure...
Anyway lunch was some left over stove top corn bread stuffing with fruits and potato/cauliflower sabji. Kunju lapped it up. At about 1:20 he fell asleep. I used the time to tidy the house.
At about 4:45 i had to wake him up ... the thought of a well refreshed kunju at 9:00 pm did not seem very appealing. After his milk fix we watched some trains on u tube. I checked the TRE schedule and planned for the 6:09 boarding from south irving.
I packed some curd sadam with sabji, milk and we left. Should have seen the little face when we saw the train approaching the station. he was excited, but i was not.
Somehow the trains in the US with their fancy a/c coaches, no vibrations lower the thrill of a train ride or maybe i am just used to sticking my head out and seeing colorful scenes pass by. Anyway it was not about me it was about kunju.. he was excited to hear the horn.
Our trip plan was to travel from south irving to Dallas union station and back. There are 2 stops between Irving and union station. Medical/Market city, Victory Plaza. We reached downtown in about 20 minutes.
Surprisingly the train was full.
The stations are not exciting in fact it is nothing but a platform. After spending about 15 minutes in union station we caught the down train back to irving. Again kunju created no fuss for dinner and milk. By the time we reached home it was time 8:00. After about 40 minutes outdoors Kunju hit sack.
I watched some tv till about 12:00 and went to bed

July 11 - Friday
Yeeeeeeeah it is friday... but silently i am dreading the weekend because i will be alone with Kunju for 2 full days. How do i keep him entertained. I start the day with those thoughts passing by. Morning was nothing to speak of.
Lunch time came and went ... Finally it was 5:30 and it was time to pick Kunju up. I had 2 things planned for the weekend one was to mow the lawn and the other was to fix my car's tire.
One thing led to another and i started working on the tire. Trying to get the donut out of the Honda was pain that thing hadn't been used in 10 years needless to say the rust made my job extremely difficult. I labored on and on with pliers under the hot sun but to no avail.
Finally fred came over and gave me a vice grip, that made my job easy i got the donut out and replaced the worn out tire. Guess what the donut had no air in it.
These are the days i wish mommy was here, after working in the hot sun i was sure to be pampered with fresh juice or sherbet. Alas we are mommyless in dallas.
Kunju was well behaved ... he seems fascinated by the garden hose he has the routine down. He first checks the flowers and then direct the hose at them one at a time.
Kunju had parup saddam and sabji ... we then proceeded with the usual milk at 8:15 and to bed at 8:30. I cleaned up the house a little bit once Kunju slept and then i crashed as well.

July 10 - Thursday
HAPPY 5th Anniversary to US
Spent the night in Kunju's room. I find sleeping on the floor pretty uncomfortable, needless to say i am tired and have added a couple more hours to the "Some day i will Catch Up on my Sleep" queue.
Kunju seems normal no temperature or any signs of discomfort ... these days i can almost tell when he is sick. He tends to be more clingy when he is sick.
First disaster of the day ... Tomato rice has gone bad, why you ask?? I kept it outside. A small wave of panic sweeps over me. What is kunju going to eat ??? Maggi to the rescue. I had got some wheat maggi from the indian store yesterday just in case. Well just in case just happened.
I quickly make the maggi ... now for the taste test. I take a strand of maggi and let Kunju taste it. A little background on Kunju's taste test. Little Master is as honest about taste as it gets, no rachael ray type mmmmm's for everything.
I wait with fingers crossed ... tick tock tick tock Yipee Kunju likes it. I pack maggi make some for me and we leave.
Came home for lunch saw "One Missed Call" ... it was ok
Evening ... Kunju and i are back. Today i cooked the stove top stuffing with some peas and carrot. Raghav eat about 3 spoons, switched tact gave him some chole and boiled egg . Overall a sub par dinner.
tomorrow's menu includes Soft Pasta Shells cooked in a Cheddar Cheese sauce garnished with some salt and a dash of pepper for lunch and Rice cake over milk fat and fine granulated sugar for breakfast. Hoping for a quiet night.
3 down 21 to go

July 9 - Wednesday
Woke up at 7:00AM for Raghav's milk. Both of us head to the living room
Raghav is busy playing with Me. Slide while i fix him breakfast (oatmeal). Lunch will be sambar sadam and a peach.
Uneventful morning... I drop him at sonia's. Allana is back today. Raghav was so happy to see her that he almost kissed her. His social skills are improving day by day.
Met with Kesavan in the afternoon at gent ct, he has his own company doing work in the health care space. We talked about a possible partnership lets see how far this goes.
Evening ... Picked up kunju, he seems very clingy. Sonia had fed him some pizza so the chances of him eating at home is going to be remote.

My plan for today is to make tomato rice and i have got all the ingredients from the indian store. After putting kunju to bed i start making the tomato rice, it is comes out well.
The day seems to be fairly normal Kunju in bed, me blogging away ... till about 11:30 PM.
Kunju is running a high temperature and i have just given him Tylenol... after 15 minutes Kunju starts throwing up.
The only way to calm both of us was to see some WDM-2 in action. Kunju fell asleep again at about 12:30.
Mommy wants me to call her back at 1:20 PM Dallas time. I think i will take a pass at that. I am done for the day
HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY MOMMY

July 08 - Tuesday
First full day with Kunju Alone
I must have woken up at about 6:20 AM ... Kunju needed the Bovine juice to get his day going. Had no choice but to oblige to the little jedi master who seems to get everything done with a little fluctuation of his vocal chords.
Super Mommy had already cooked a meal for both of us she left, sure made my morning easy.
Top of the the list is a little slide for Kunju. He seemed to enjoy it at Eva's place maybe he will at home too. I hope he does cos that might keep him off my back.
Morning has been uneventful ... Kunju almost had a box of veggie poppers for breakfast.
But Wait (infomercial style) there was a shocker in the morning worth mentioning.. Hold on .... here it comes No more BACKYARDIGANS it has been replaced by Noi ta ... some stupid japanese anime
I dont know who will miss it more kunju or me ....
It is afternoon i rush to Walmart get my shopping done and walk out with the item of the day ... The Little Tikes Slide. BTW Walmart has started selling Organic milk under the GV brand ... looks like our shopping trips to Tom Thumb are numbered....

After a quick lunch i assemble the slide, cant wait to see the look on the little one's face when he comes home.
Evening ahoy, Kunju and I return home. Raghav meet Mr. Slide, Mr Slide meet your new tormentor for the next 3 yrs. Kunju cant seem to get enough of his slide. Anway i am happy.
Tried to feed Mac and cheese but kunju refused to eat it. He finally ate some fruits, sambar sadam.
At 7:30 we decided to check out the freight train, it was raining heavily. We waited at the intersection of beltline and I-35 for about 40 minutes but no sign of the BNSF freight train.
The night then on was pretty uneventful. One day down 22 to go.

July 07

The time is 7:30 PM, Kunju and I have just returned from the airport bidding goodbye to Mommy. The house is erriely silent. Many a days i have wished to spend time alone, free from Kunju's unending complaints or watch movies on my fav channel aka Sci Fi. Now i finally have that oppurtunity but it feels different ... too quiet for my liking.
Kunju is ready to crash, Hahaha the first day is going to be easy ...
It has been almost 1:15 hours since my attempt to put jr to bed... Sandman has still not arrived. I might have had at least 3 power naps during that time. I am getting tired of Kunju pointing that Pish over and over again.
Anyway kunju's late night Pish obsession is going to take time away from my new fav hobby these days ... designing websites for VA.
9:15 PM kunju is out... 11:00 PM i am out.. signing off for today.
We miss you mommy
